How to calculate your shop's daily profit

4 min read

The cash in your drawer at closing time is not your profit. Here is a simple way to see what you actually earned.

The basic formula

Profit = total sales − cost of the goods you sold − the day's expenses.

  • Example: sales Rs 20,000, cost of those goods Rs 16,000, expenses Rs 1,500.
  • Profit = 20,000 − 16,000 − 1,500 = Rs 2,500.

Count udhaar separately

Goods sold on udhaar are sales, but the cash isn't in the drawer yet. Track them so your sales total stays accurate.

Use your sales record

Recording every bill gives you a reliable sales total at the end of the day instead of a guess.
